Its a Woman's World - Finally
Out on Monday, we would like to point you towards a new release on Pure Recordings titled ‘Womans World’, this one features Selah, Sadie Ama and Mz Bratt.  XStream East will be right behind this track and heres why;

We appreciate this track because it’s a real grower, not a disposable R&B track and to be honest we rarely see the talented young women on the UK underground unless they are singing the hook for a male Mc.

The track features some very smooth vocal arrangement from DaVinChe, in the producers chair for this one. We like that this feels like a soul track with an injection of edge for 2010, and that sounds been missing from music for a while now.

Selah who leads on the track is a relatively new artist to emerge on the scene having cut her musical teeth working with Ms Dynamite, Baby Blue and Akala since around 2007. This feels like a debut track for her but she certainly holds her own. Selah is a singer’s singer, no auto tune needed.

For a long time when we have spoken among ourselves about why the women aren’t making it through, its Sadie Ama we all mention and that’s because she’s a real bonafide talent. Sadie throws down the gauntlet – “I’m president, your grime’s first lady” and that pretty much says it all.

We feel there is a bit of a movement right now to bring the women back to the front. Maybe we are all getting a bit fed up of the glamour girl grime videos and lets be honest at the moment we are seeing quite a few of them. This is a breath of fresh air beautiful women on their own terms.

Only one complaint, the video concept is a bit too sugary for the track and would it be going too far if we suggest that working with Carly Cussen would be a great partnership for the next one?

We suspect Wiley might well be cheering on this musical sea change and with Selah, Sadie Ama, Mz Bratt, Shola Ama, Princess Nyah, Emile Sande and Katy B on our team it could just be a Woman’s World after all. We hope so.

"Woman’s World" is out on Monday August 2nd on Pure Recordings.
